If you are interested in astronomy, then Stellarium is a must-have. The program is created and maintained på a volunteer basis by astronomers all over the world, and contains exact positions of more than 600.000 stars, and you could download even more if you want. You can enter the position where you are, and the program will calculate how the night sky will appear from the place where you are. You can use the search-function to find stars, constellations or anything else you could think of, and you can turn on and off atmospheric effects, so that you can see stars even at daytime.
If you are using the program to assist you in finding stars that you want to see through your telescope, you can use a grid overlay, and easily read declination and hour-angle, or height and direction to your star. This makes it easy to align your telescope in the right direction. You can also move back or forwardin time, and experience events that have passed or is going to happen.
